Five years ago after shooting the local fireworks I came across the idea of shooting the Old Court House spire with fireworks behind it. The first year I selected a location to shoot several blocks away from the Courthouse and when the display started I found the burst were way off to one side, strike one. The next year I got closer and a better angle only to have street light dominate the images, strike two. Last year I thought my location was right only to learn they moved the fireworks launch site, FOUL ball. This year.....
After an absence from doing photography on a regular basis I decided to do a-picture-a-day-for-a-year project. As a direction I am attempting to use modern images where possible to relate times in my photographic past. As I am no longer a spring chicken, I can get philosophical some times. As a Christian I often see God possibly using me and my photography to send short messages. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I have enjoyed making them around Monroe, NC. TheElmo

Elmo... You are the best! I tried to catch a happy face during fireworks last night, but missed all three times. I never had the camera exactly right. I did get some great video of the finale though! Again, good work!
