266: Children at the Cross

Then Jesus said, “Leave the children alone,
and don’t try to keep them from coming to Me,
because the kingdom of heaven is made up of people like this.”

Matt 19:14 HCSB

265: Bright spot on a dull day

I got up this morning and was greeted by some wet puppies and a cool breeze when I let them in. Considering the rainy cold and otherwise dull conditions I grabbed my camera anyway and headed out to pay some bills. I then realized it is Good Friday and most places are closed. When I headed back home I noticed the police escorting a group of marchers. Upon investigation I found the group was on a pilgrimage with several different churches (all different denominations) used as the stations of the Cross.

It seems in today's times participation in religious actives is proportional to the weather. I was encouraged to see this large group brave the conditions to stand up for their Christian beliefs.

In closing I would like to remind folks that the events we honor during this three day period are the Totality of Jesus Gospel. As Paul called it the 'Good News".

171: The Cross and a Flag

Most times I go out without a plan today was different I had a plan. The plan was to shoot a Nativity Scene. Guess what after looking for a couple of hours I found 4. Two were in a single yard and were not lit. One was in a church yard and was covered with glitter, not very photogenic. The fourth which you might see when it stops raining. But this lack of Nativity scenes led me to a new train of thought and the image was right by my house.

The Cross lights the Flag

Over the past few years there has been a lot of controversy over the phrase "In GOD We Trust" on our currency. My search this evening lends some insight to this matter. As a nation do we trust in GOD? Seems not, as even churches no longer promote this sacred event outside our closed walls. So to be very blunt I think we ether need to take the lie off our currency or have a REVIVAL. I am praying for REVIVAL, remember what GOD did for the Hebrews when on the occasions when they got their act together, He will do the same for us.

76B: The Street at Night -- The Third Night

They say the third time is the charm, may be so. At least in this case it fits. For those of you who do not know, I do not do "set up" shots (only one so far in this series and this is not it). Last evening I saw the image I posted earlier but made another capture that I failed to review.

Calvary In Junk Shop Window

Here was Calvary on Saturday night in Waxhaw. The three crosses: the large white one for Jesus, A small white cross for the convict who repented, The small dark cross for the one who did not repent, All against the dark sky (reflection in the window).

Some times the truth is right before our eyes and we fail to see it.

34: The Very Beginning -- Silhouette

In the beginning I did not have a photograph to show what really turned me on to photography, years ago. It all started on day when I walked into general science class. All the shades were drawn down to about a foot from the bottom of the windows. Shortly after class started Dr. Killiam gave everyone in the class a piece of paper. The instructions were to take the paper to the window, place it on the window sill shinny side up in the sun light. Then place on hand on the paper for 1 minute. After which we took the paper and put it in a tray of some type of fluid. When the silhouette of my hand appeared I was hooked for life.
